How long does it take for your platinum-cured silicone to cure if the temperature rises?
Platinum-cured silicone rubber's curing rate can be controlled by adjusting the temperature, but it cannot be controlled by changing the mixing ratio. Therefore, raising or lowering the temperature will either shorten or lengthen the working time and curing time. As a rule of thumb, a temperature change of approximately 10°C can halve or double the working time and curing speed.

Does this silicone need to be degassed with a vacuum pump?
Generally speaking, for liquid silicone with a mixing viscosity below 8,000 CPS, allowing it to rest for 20-30 minutes will cause bubbles to naturally rise to the surface and burst. However, for materials with a viscosity higher than 8,000 CPS, they will not deaerate on their own. It is recommended to use a vacuum pump for deaeration.

I am planning to use your rtv liquid silicone to cast a delicate piece with some undercuts. I need a mold that is soft and stretchy enough to casting the piece without breaking it. How soft is your liquid silicone when it cures?
You can choose low-hardness silicone, such as RTV-4105 and RTV-4110, which is very soft and super easy to demold.

How to eliminate the micro-bubbles produced by liquid silicone when stirring?
Liquid silicone with a viscosity below 10,000cps typically does not form bubbles when cured at room temperature. Bubbles are more likely to occur at high temperatures, as lower temperatures slow the curing process and reduce bubbles. If you want to eliminate all microfoam, you can mix Part A and Part B, put them in the refrigerator for 1 hour, and then continue curing at room temperature. However, please ensure that you seal the silicone before placing it in the freezer as water can affect the curing process of silicone. If possible, using a vacuum pump to remove bubbles is the most effective method.

Will liquid silicone stay nice and soft after it cures?
Yes, it is soft enough. It is of good quality and does not tear easily. It can be easily unmolded and has good mechanical resistance. I have used it a few times to make resin molds with great results. It is also great for undercuts.

Can it be used to make food silicone moulds?
Yes, platinum-cured silicone is non-toxic and odorless, and has passed FDA certification, which is food-grade silicone, so it can be used in the production of food molds.

What is the actual shelf life of a product after opening?
Our experiments have shown that if you put the lid on after each use, store the bottle in a cool, dark place, and keep the temperature below 40°C, platinum-cured silicone will remain usable for up to 2 years. Our real-world data is based on rigorous testing in our own warehouse where we keep samples from each batch for the same duration to ensure consistency and reliability.
